Kung Fu Panda 2 turns 15. The $150M sequel toon made $165M domestic ($249M adjusted), $666M worldwide & $59M in home video sales & was generally considered a good sequel; Roger Ebert preferred it over the first. Two more sequels followed.

A truly worthy sequel. While it has noticeably darker moments when compared to its predecessor, it still doesn’t forget that this is fundamentally an action comedy film. I know that some also compared this with **How to Train Your Dragon 2**, but I can safely say that this is still a lot more lighthearted than that.

Dreamworks can really knock it out of the park with their sequels when they want to. This, Shrek 2 and Puss in Boots 2 are all far better than their predecessors IMO

Easily the darkest of the three films, almost to the point where the humor isn’t always quite as memorable. Shen is literally up there as one of the best animated villains. This film never stops being so good.

This was such a great movie and sequel to the first film. I remember loving it so much when I saw it in theaters when it first came out. DreamWorks definitely know how to make a great animated sequel like this film, Shrek 2, Puss in Boots 2, HTTYD2, etc.

this is the best Kung Fu Panda movie in my opinion even though I also think 1 and 3 are great, 4 however fell off a cliff in quality

    6. The final fight is cool, but not at the level of the 1st one. Shen just kind of accepts his fate, still really enjoyed it

Despite being darker then its predecessor, this sequel looks really good that it’s one of my favorite DreamWorks sequel along with Shrek 2, How To Train Your Dragon 2 and Puss In Boots The Last Wish

It used to be my favorite of the four, but after watching the first three back to back to back I think I do prefer the first. But it’s still an amazing sequel, and a great movie! I just realized how perfect the first one was in succession lol.

Box office wise I remember being stunned the drop domestically from the first but summer 2011 was crowded. When I was a kid it was the most I ever went to the movies

Oof, 15 years. I watched this in theaters, so it’s been 15 years since I was a young teen :’) Amazing film, my favorite of the series. Shen is a very vicious character to have in a kid’s movie.
