    1. It’s opening weekend and they’re already pulling out merch, partnerships, theme park revenue, and fan reviews to say it’s doing well.

Actions speak loud and Disney seems to be acting desperate in regards to trying to spin this as positively as they can.

We will know literally nothing until its legs. Cataclysmic drop and it’s a failure. Decent legs… and it’s ok. Still a far cry from other Star Wars movies sans Solo. But the reported modest budget at least helps the film somehow be profitable *if* the holds are good. I guess Starfighter will be the “real” test lol.

It’s wild that I am more hyped to (re)watch dune movies than Star Wars, even though I know they are different sci fi

      >But the bigger point here is that quite often Disney will defend their green lights of franchise movies for the greater good of the ancillaries. However, if a film like Snow White, or Pirates of the Caribbean, or the latest Star Wars is registering lower than stellar grosses for the franchise — what good is that for the longer tail? Doesn’t that impede demand? Who wants to buy Snow White toys if the movie has tanked or waned at the box office.

      Asking the real questions.

They’re already spinning like crazy and the trades are being too polite to point out the budget is an obvious lowball.

That’s enough to know the movie’s a disaster.
