      >Mandalorian and Grogu’ Lifts Off With $82M 3-Day, $102M Over 4-Day Memorial Day Holiday

1 million lower than Solo: A Star Wars Story’s 103 million 4-day opening from 2018. 2.4 million lower than its 3-day.

Walkups have definitely helped. Projection keep going higher and higher.

Would be really soild if it can hit 100 million over 4 days and keep pace with solo

    3. This assumes a $20MM Monday for M&G and I don’t see it when compared to Solo. Solo did $84MM thru Sunday and made $18.6MM on Memorial Day

The fact that Disney couldn’t even fudge the estimates to make it open higher than Solo makes be believe that it might not even open to $100m 4-Day with actuals.

This movie is the definition of “just fine”: the numbers so far are just fine, the reception from both critics and audiences is just fine. It’s not moving the needle in any direction.

Not what Star Wars should aim to, although many were waiting for it to fall on its face with every update and yet that ended up not happening

Higher than early projections, nice. It actually surpassed 100M for the 4-day, despite a lower opening day compared to Solo A Star Wars Story.

      The Mandalorian vs Solo

      1. 3-day: 82M vs 84M
      2. 4-day: 102M vs 103M

Now, it‘ll depend on the upcoming weeks. Solo finished its domestic run with 213M, so I‘d say expect a similar total for The Mandalorian & Grogu.

    7. Fine opening weekend, not bad nor good for Mando. I don’t understand why there are so many haters here. I haven’t watched it yet, but from the looks of it, it isn’t that bad to deserve this much hate. One positive note about this film compared to Solo is that it seems less front-loaded and has attracted more families, so maybe it will have decent legs until Toy Story.

Obsession looks to be one of the most interesting films of the decade to track, and hopefully it continues despite Backrooms, which, from my understanding on BOT has a chance of 50m+.

The fact that people are celebrating and calling this a win for Star Wars, it’s just utterly depressing.

A Star Wars movie struggling to pull over $100 million over Memorial Weekend is just really telling. Star Wars used to be *the* movie of the year. Easily making double this or more, with a healthy box office run. On a 2 or 3 day weekend.

This movie is lazily stitched together with no character, no depth; it was made entirely to drawn in people based on cute baby Yoda and sell toys. If we act like we’re satisfied with this, then Disney will continue to pump out the absolute bare minimum slop and we’ll never get anything like the OT, Prequels or Andor ever again.

So, “Solo” Round 2. That was the most common prediction since the movie announcement. Not gonna lie, kind of boring.

OS will be the main difference I guess. “Solo” numbers were straight up abysmal.

    10. At least the internal multiplier is a good sign for better legs than Solo, so it should be able to outgross it while having a much lower budget.

    11. inb4 “*This is actually a good result*” and “*Starfighter is the real test.*”

This is not what Disney wanted to see, and the mediocre reception will just reinforce the perception that Disney’s SW is complete slop.

      I’m
Surprised every comment is about Mando. I figured everyone would be ignoring it to talking about how impressive the second weekend for Obsession is.

I watched the film with my family, it was a fun movie I enjoyed it.

    14. The angry Star Wars fans have discovered this sub and are making every post about this movie a “Disney killed my childhood” gathering.

      Time to mute.
