Maybe it’s just me, but not a fan of that title at all, though I guess it gets the brand name in.

Edit: I retract my comment if the movie stars Marion Cottilard, Lea Seydoux, Eva Green, and Julie Delpy.

While this looks likes to be a mid slop action fest like the Expendables franchise, I do have to say that Expendabelles is a clever title

    3. Female led action films have struggled recently, even when they have been good. I am not sure why they are pushing forward with this.

    4. I’m not a fan of the Expendables franchise at all so I have no dog in this fight, but I can’t imagine the core audience for this IP (i.e. my step dad) is gonna have any interest in “this one is all girls”

It should be all females in their 40s and 50s (some really ugly looking) with one hunky twink looking 20 something boy on the team that’s one of their kids. Then give them all love interests with men at least 15 years younger than them

Only then will it effectively mirror the first 4.

So, who is the all-star lineup of female action stars they’re going to get?

      Weaver? Theron? Curtis?

Another opportunity for Ana de Armas to put the 3 weeks weapons training to use after No Time To Die and Ballerina

    8. It’s just a movie about a group of actresses in LA who are about to turn 30.

    9. Who do they think this movie is for? The *all female* remakes or spinoffs usually have flopped badly. If they can’t attach a <$50 million budget to this (hint: they can’t), I have no idea how they want to make money with this.

Starring Megan Fox, Sydney Sweeney, Michelle Rodriguez, Rhonda Rousey and Cardi B for some reason

Cynthia Rothrock, Michelle Yeoh, Sigourney Weaver, Linda Hamilton, Milla Jovovich, Kate Beckinsale, Pam Grier, Michelle Rodriguez, and Charlize Theron should be the obvious ones that they go after. I’d say Scarlett Johansson as well, but I doubt they have the budget for her.

I genuinely don’t know who they could get for this. Cynthia Rothrock?

Women who played beloved action heroes in the 1980s and the 1990s are either way too high-profile to play in a piece of slop like this (like Michelle Yeoh and Sigourney Weaver), or too low-profile to even get noticed. I mean, I am a martial arts movie nerd of the highest caliber. I wouldn’t mind it if they just did a new “In the Line of Duty” movie and got Cynthia Rothrock, Joyce Godenzi, and Cynthia Kahn together, but you need to be an absolute nerd to even recognize these names right now, let alone have nostalgia for them.

If Expend4bles couldn’t do well with the original cast, this is going to bomb, unless it has a very low budget.

    14. Action films now often need elements like science fiction, large-scale battles, and things like giant monsters and superheroes to be successful. The typical gunfight action genre is oversaturated. However, there are still some bright spots like Bad Boys and John Wick. I see Call of Duty or Battlefield in the future, but those are all adaptations of the most popular FPS game series of all time. Original action movie IPs are dying out.
