The Sheep Detectives is winning over audiences and critics alike with opening weekend of $15.9M. Solid start for non-franchise kidpic, Saturday-Sunday box office uptick projected for Mother’s Day. Family competition not too tough in May so good legs should result from strong word of mouth.

I was hoping for a start around 20M but oh well. Hopefully legs are strong. Budget is high at 80M.
Good, we need more movies like this
Fine start. Better than Lyle Lyle Crocodile ($11M), but a far cry from IF ($30M).
Going to check it out this week. Hope it picks up WOM steam in its first full week. We need movies like this to succeed.
Hope it has strong legs and does well overseas too
Higher than Deadline’s 14.8 million projection. 50+ million finish on the cards.

I really want this to have some godly legs and maybe get close to $100M DOM.
Wow. He’s predicting like a 7m Sunday. That’s an impressive Mother’s Day bump.
That’s locks in Sheep Detectives joining the 50m domestic club that one user is keeping track of
Anecdotally my theater sold out with a mix of families and couples in the audience. Though that might also have been because my AMC only thought to give them two showtimes for the whole damn day.
Still, the entire audience enjoyed it so hopefully the WOM helps pick up OW and keep the legs strong.
Wouldn’t limit it as a kidpic, surprisingly good movie.
Even with the holiday bump, a $16M OW from a $4M OD is great. Could leg out to $50-65M fs. And movies like this usually perform well enough overseas. $75M budget meant it won’t break even(but the goalpost does kinda move for Amazon/Apple releases ig), should cross $150M WW hopefully.

wife and I took the kiddos friday and we all enjoyed it. Was better than I anticipated it to be.
Pretty good. I hope it has good legs.
Ok i am definitely going to check this out now!
I’m rooting for this movie. I’m glad it’s actually doing somewhat decent in a crowded month for movies
Unfortunately, overseas underperformed a bit. Just $12 million in 70% of their markets. Did pretty well in the UK with $4.5 million. Will need even better wom overseas.
Is Hollywood back?
I was looking forward to this movie based on the critics’ response and good word of mouth and I just got out of the most packed showing I have been in at my local theater in a long time. Like we had to sit in the front row because every other seat was sold. It seems like the word of mouth is working, couldn’t happen to a nicer film.
