Weekend 4 it should widen the gap with Oppenheimer and then weekend 5 it will start to shrink again by quite a bit and eventually get overtaken as Oppenheimer has many markets it released in weekend 5 and 6. Weekend 4 was Vietnam but the grosses were very very low. Weekend 5 it released in Korea, weekend 6 it released in Italy and Greece and weekend 7 (kind of 8 since it was Tuesday the following week but had previews the weekend before) it released in China.
600M until tuesday, Korea is going to push it this week, and next weekend we will have its return to IMAX screens, this looks good
American media and RT have little to no influence WW. Despite what “critics” said this movie is nuanced and has a 3 act structure that is different from other biopics (rise, success , fall and rise again) and favors showing the huge tragedy and loneliness of the subject of the film. That in turn makes the family themes play well. Family content is king at box office. Non fans keep showing up to the chagrin of a segment of the Hollywood industry where many people despised Jackson.
Can you imagine if it was actually a good movie? To some that doesn’t matter but if it actually was a critics darling, I think a lot more people would’ve budged and went out to see it. Regardless, it’s still doing remarkable.
