Sucks that this is gonna miss out on $50M, but I know for a fact that A24 is happy with how it turned out down at overseas.
Will finish around $48M DOM mark with The Devil Wears Prada 2 that’s taking over its female audiences from The Drama although it’s still pretty good for a romantic film with Zendaya and Robert Pattinson on it as their going to do big with The Odyssey and Dune Part Three together
Agree it’s a shame it will miss $50M, but the WW gross is good. I liked it more than expected given I learned about the twist in advance. Glad to see movies like this and The Materialists have success.

It’s great to see it doing so well worldwide but it’s a bit depressing that in the US now $50 million is basically the ceiling for 98% or so of non-IP non-sequel live-action films
I tried warning the 50m GIF guy, that it was going to finish under 50m domestic like Marty finishing under 100m domestic.
Has nothing to do with the quality of films it more A24. A24 doesn’t hold onto theaters like big studios. Disney can keep Avatar in more theaters to have it limp over 400m. A24 doesn’t have that pull. A24 films drop 800-1000 theaters on their 3rd weekends and its pretty much over after that.
Movie had a decent start but started giving out. The legs weren’t great for this one
Honestly probably would’ve been more worthwhile to hold onto screens for the Drama than make room for Mother Mary
