Higher than Deadline’s 413m estimate. $800m should be the goal!

Strong global results after only its 2nd weekend!

      500M+ next weekend already.

I believe it will eventually pass 800M+ with Japan and South Korea.

Michael was so strong…, it even outperformed The Devil Wears Prada 2 in some international markets this weekend.

still has SK, Japan and Russia to go so i could totally see a 800-900M finish

    4. With every new report for this movie I’m getting more confident that this will make a billion.

It honestly feels like pre-Covid so far and I couldn’t be more happy.

Edit: Why do I get downvoted lmao?

Can this movie become Lionsgate’s highest grossing movie domestically and worldwide? It would need to beat “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” ($424.67M domestic / $864.8M worldwide) to do that.

Keep in mind that it still has three remaining markets left, so expect these numbers to go up later into the run.

With such a crowd pleaser like this, good word of mouth will do wonders for the box office. I think 1 billion possible

    8. Opening international weekend was 121m. Monday to Thursday was 47.5m according to Deadline so this 2nd weekend estimate is 71.5m a 41% drop and will probably go up with actuals.

What’s the best way to compare Michael’s success with BR and decide which had better overall success?

Since Hollywood revenue is much lower than in 2018, comparing worldwide gross directly doesn’t feel fair. I can think of two ways.

      1. BR was the 6th highest-grossing movie in its year. Can Michael reach or beat that? Both years have a lot of big IP movies, so comparing the yearly rank feels fair.

      2. Another option is to take the highest-grossing movie of the year as the ceiling (the maximum revenue a Hollywood movie can reach that year) and compare ratios. BR made less than half of the top movie that year. Can Michael do better than that?

This is comping very similarly to something like Oppenheimer and Aladdin. 900m-1B should be where it lands.
