Michael scored the biggest opening day box office of 2026 on Friday with $40M including all pre-shows. Incredible 43% of that came from IMAX & PLF scrns. Depending on how frontloaded the weekend is by fans, opening weekend should finish in the $95M area.

$95M is already bigger than every film Lionsgate has released this decade other than Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and John Wick 4.
This’ll give it the joint 9th biggest April opening of all-time, tying with Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s 95 million debut from 2014.

So, I assume we’re getting the sequel announcement soon since this was originally envisioned as a two parter?
