“If he likes the way the part is written” = if they offer me $100 million

Will depend on if he can find his way to set after a night out.

It’ll probably release in 2029, it could’ve been released Memorial Day 2028 as a way to commemorate 25 years since the original movie, but *Lilo & Stitch* made all the money so of course they’re going to fast track a sequel to that over a currently dormant live-action franchise that has a controversial actor playing its lead character.

It was inevitable really. Disney wasn’t giving up on this franchise regardless of whatever Depp got himself into.
It’ll probably pay off too! I said this before but it’s been nearly *ten years* since Dead Men Tell No Tales. The stench has more than wore off for casual audiences. Bring the entire OG trio back and there’s room for a hit

People who think there’s still any controversy about Johnny Depp in the eyes of the wide audience live in the Reddit-Twitter bubble. In fact, I’m not sure there’s that much of a controversy even on Reddit. It’s just that the ones who do care still haven’t moved on.
If one of his movies fail, it’s certainly not because of any controversy. And if they want this Pirates to do as well as it can, it’ll need him (having the OG trio would help. Not sure if they’d be willing, but the importance of the other two was always unfairly downplayed, imo).

Those first three movies are so good and Depp is so disgraceful that I actually magically do not see him in the role at all.
Fourth and fifth? That is so clearly Johnny Depp in a wig that it’s shocking. It’s legitimately one of life’s great wonders.

Didn’t the last one’s box office prove that people were tired of this series?

Bring Bloom and Knightley back for the whole movie.

The only thing less exciting to me than “Pirates 6,” is “Johnny Depp returning.”
Regardless of where you stand on his personal life, he hasn’t turned in a worthwhile performance in what, 15 years? His last outing as Jack was panned. I’m not saying unceremoniously kill off the character or god forbid recast, but if you want a viable franchise you need to grow it outside of one character that stopped being interesting nearly 20 years ago.
