I’m interested in how this will perform. The show is still popular, but nobody likes or even watches the new episodes.
average episode costs about $7M to produce, I would *think* $22M for a whole movie would be enough, its gonna be the marketing that will cost a pretty penny
I think the California Tax Credit will be a big reason why WDAS and Pixar will never move production away from Burbank and Emeryville although The Simpsons Movie 2 is an odd one because the animation for the series and I think the last movie is done in South Korea.
The first movie came out when Simpsons was already in decline but still very popular.
Modern Simpsons meanwhile is honestly tragic outside of a few rare episodes here and there. Ratings wise its clearly nowhere near as big anymore and some of the voice actors are quite clearly too old with voices that are grating at this point. Marge’s voice actress in particular is just plainly way overdue retirement.
I really wonder how this will do.
I hope the animation looks better than the most recent seasons of the show. So sterile and flat
