Oh my…I love Olivia, but this is trying for #1 in an unnatural way with this fan account post.

  2. Just a few days ago, her fans on Twitter were trying to “not like other girls” her by claiming that she doesn’t care about the charts unlike Taylor and Sabrina 😭 those posts got 40k likes. Meanwhile in reality, all of these A-list artists care about the charts, you don’t get to that position without playing the game.

Note: Boo I was informed it was a parody TOTC account I saw. I thought I banned them all. I thought the titles were just creative like Sabrina’s espresso remixes. Those are still the best in theme titled remixes I’ve seen.

I still support artist doing what they got to do if they are close. Why be embarrassed about trying to get the finish you want. Even though I personally won’t be helping this particular effort.

On the one hand, sure, fans probably want to know how to contribute.

On the other hand, I hate these sorts of things.

Jesus. Not even Taylor has done this.

This is too much. 9 digital variants. 10 vinyl/other variants. 3 versions of the music video.

And I’m sure there’s more to come till Friday.

  6. This is almost as embarrassing as when Justin Bieber shared instructions for getting “Yummy” to #1 (at least this time it’s not Olivia herself).

The funny thing is watching her fans do mental gymnastics about how she’s so different from other pop stars when Olivia is a product of Disney, the biggest monopoly in the entertainment industry.

They need to understand that Olivia, like any mainstream singer, cares about the charts and commercial success. Artists who truly do it for the love of it usually don’t have more than 100,000 followers on Spotify.

  7. Telling us how long to listen to the song so it counts as a stream is INSANE. This is honestly so pitiful.

  8. Olivia has enormous talent and songwriting skills. But her fandom is too “she’s not like other girls” … without much evidence.

i know that most artists care about the charts but i didn’t really expect this from her.

Oof there needs to be a way to encourage this without being so obvious because it looks… desperate.

EDIT: Wait is this her official team or the main fan account? If it’s the latter then it’s not as egregious.

  11. I know all fanbases do this (I am a fan of Taylor Swift, after all) but I’ve never given a second thought to my streams. If I’m listening to a song it’s because I enjoy it. That said, I’ve had Drop Dead on repeat because it’s so fun and light and now I have the ick

mind you two versions of drop dead are currently at the top of the itunes chart because livies faked an email stating that those who bought the single got presale codes for tour. people inevitably panic bought them. you kinda have to laugh at the creativity but it’s insane that the same fanbase spent all of last week pretending neither she nor they cared about the charts at all 😭

This isn’t directly related to this, but it’s interesting that listening to a single song on a loop might get it flagged lmao. I am so guilty of this with songs I fall in love with, whether they’re actually new or just new to me. I will set it on “repeat” for hours and hours, that’s how into them I get. Hopefully the wide-ranging music I do this with, in terms of genre and release date, might save me from Spotify thinking I’m doing something nefarious instead of me being a ND weirdo on a dopamine chase.

Also, when it comes to that post, I have to say how much I hate that squiggly font.

  14. tell me again how not like other pop girlies she is

And I say this as someone who likes her/her music.

  15. I was rooting for anyone over the Kid Rock fest lady, but yikes…

Impact is more than charts. Hope Billboard changes the rule soon (what will it take?)

  16. Was about to ask why we’re posting stuff from stan accounts until I realized it came from her official fan page. Honestly, I’m not mad about it. I’m more annoyed at the font choice.

What’s an official fan account? /gen

Does that mean her team is personally behind it because.. girl 🫩

I do not care for this and I don’t like how it’s being pushed

I get that it really isn’t the artist’s fault and it’s a money game, but it leaves a very very bad taste in my

I love Olivia’s music but this really makes me want to avoid this song out of spite. Old man yells at cloud vibes, I know, but I am also pretty disappointed more artists are following the footsteps of other artists who do this despite the backlash it gets, like they took the wrong notes.

Give me my boombox and CD collection and I’ll wait for the inevitable deluxe album because I am so tired of this.

LMAO!! Apparently a lot of you are new to this. This has been going on for YEARS with K-pop. Every single release there are accounts shoving “how to stream” shit down everyone’s throats. If you call out this tactic, you get labelled a hater. 🤣
