Can Japan pull Galaxy to a billion?
After, 19 days Minecraft was at 353m domestic. Mario will be at 355m if estimates hold. Its not a perfect one for one comp because Mario opened on a Wednesday and holiday weekend. Minecraft had a normal Friday opening. Mario is eventually going to fall behind Minecraft’s domestic pace.
Minecraft didn’t open in Japan or South Korea until its 4th weekend. Same as Super Mario Galaxy. Minecraft grossed 9m in South Korea and I’d expect the around the same gross for Galaxy in SK.
So, it’ll be down to one market….Japan. Minecraft grossed 26m in Japan and grossed 960m worldwide. Mario??
