  1. It looks like this won’t be like the box office of They Kill You or The Bride, where the numbers are a mess both domestically and internationally, but more like Wuthering Heights, where the overseas box office carried it on its shoulders.

    $80M locked, $100M possible.

  2. Unsurprising this was bigger internationally, globally people like supernatural horror more than a lot of other genres and IPs. Would not be surprised if this legs out much better outside of America and we actually get a sequel.

2.6 million higher than Evil Dead Rise’s 17.9 million international debut, 8.4 million lower than it’s 42.4 million global debut.

Nice only $6M below what Evil Dead Rise started out with. Think it could reach $100M worldwide in the end, a definitely good result for the $22M budget.

  5. Pleasantly surprised by this. Pretty strong opening against its small $22M budget.

Should be a comeback for WB after The Bride and They Will Kill You both bombed especially with Mortal Kombat 2 and Supergirl expected to do well

I really enjoyed the movie so I’m glad to see it well. It definitely would have had better word of mouth if the Evil Dead inspirations were made clear in the trailers but nice that it should actually be able to leg out to a decent profit, providing the marketing budget wasn’t too substantial.

this should easily break even and maybe even make a modest profit. won’t be a breakthrough like horror was for WB last year..
