Idk about this how many realistically are gonna be built and made before doomsday comes out

  2. WOW. Disney couldn’t get IMAX screens for Doomsday and said “Fine I’ll Do It Myself” and made a new premium format to rival IMAX haha. Actually hilarious.

And I know that’s not the actual reason they did this “Infinity Vision” thing, but it does explain why they won’t change the release date for Doomsday.

  3. Oh for the love of… how exactly is this different than all the other IMAX ripoffs? Just move the damn film to get the real ones, Mouse! And you better not keep it exclusive to your slate.

  4. So they aren’t even building out new theatres lol….theyre just going to certify current PLF screens and put a badge on it.

Typical modern Disney. Find shortcuts instead of quality and put their name on it.

I read the article and maybe I’m dumb. What exactly is Disney doing other than putting an arbitrary watermark on something? They’re not building anything or creating new software or hardware to increase quality, so what is this announcement?

I’d bet my bottom dollar that they won’t have a person or people in charge of certifying the quality either. It’ll probably just be AI considering all the layoffs announced a couple days ago.

  6. So are movie theaters going to build a new auditorium for this or just renovate some large screen theaters?

  7. How’s that gonna work? Are they going to pay for hundreds of theaters to upgrade an auditorium or are they just going to smack a label on preexisting auditoriums? And I’m assuming this will only be for Disney movies? So every theater is going to have a designated Disney screen?

i have 1 imax theater and its almost an hour drive or me…. when will imax even be more accessible before we start going beyond that lol

Like someone said below, it’s like Disney Digital 3D where it’s just Disneys name slapped on existing technology

  10. “Can we see Doomsday in IMAX?”

Disney: “We have IMAX at home.”

    IMAX at home:

  11. Seeing disney worked up facing competition against a niche novel series against their mainstream comic titan is hilarious to watch.

  12. This seems super stupid, and another reason for theaters to charge more money for tickets.

So is this something that has to be built for theaters? If so, I don’t think how this will happen between now and Dec 18th

My crazy conspiracy mind sees this as the next inevitable step now that the Paramount Decree has been dismantled. Now Disney can own their own theaters like back in the day. If your theater doesn’t match their bullshit criteria too bad, you don’t get the biggest event marvel film.

They soon will only screen their movies here. It’s why they’ve dismantled their physical media division as well so they can keep all their stuff under a tighter lock and key.
