I might be in the minority, but I really hope they don’t just completely ignore the events of the show that was cancelled on a cliffhanger.

Chucky’s sustained relevance through viral memes, the recent success of revived slasher franchises such as Scream and Halloween, and Jennifer Tilly’s increased visibility from RHOBH all suggest this could perform very well, particularly with a strong opening. General audiences who haven’t kept up with the DTV sequels or the TV series are unlikely to be put off by deeper lore, especially since this would be the first theatrical Chucky release in over two decades. That alone is a compelling hook they can market heavily and I’m confident it would at least open strong. Any potential legs will depend on quality, but bringing Chucky back to theaters is a strategically sound move from Universal’s end to test the current audience demand for the franchise.

  3. As a big Chucky fan I am excited to see a new installment in theatres. Depending on how big this release would be it could reach 30M OW. All depending on whos distributing it. Jennifer Tilley being at the forefront would be best but not sure how they can do that.

  4. I hope he doesn’t reboot it and keep the continuity of the show. I love how committed this franchise is to not breaking its own lore. And of course, Jennifer Tilly HAS to be in it

  5. LET’S FUCKING GO! So great to see Universal going all-in on the franchise after the show. Apparently, it’s a direct follow-up, too? Even better. That crew deserves a grand theatrical finale to wrap things up on a high note.

Woo hoo! Being a 90’s kid, I was traumatized as a kid because of him. Now I’m obsessed with everything new from the Chuck!
