The lack of ‘nOvElTy’ is killing this movie’s box office /s

Visually beautiful, but the story and jokes fell flat.

While it still has a couple weeks to make over a billion by the time Japan makes its debut in 2 weeks from now, I think it’ll finish around $1.1B-$1.2B WW range which is still good considering animated sequels now doesn’t make as much as its predecessor unless if it’s a Disney / Pixar sequel that are long gaps of its predecessor

And this is without Japan or SK lmao.
I imagine what…1.2bil finish?

That is a bit weaker than the number The Hollywood Reporter were projecting yesterday: 635M, but still good.
COMPARISON
Super Mario Bros. vs Galaxy
1. wknd: 375M vs 372M (-3M)
2. wknd: 693M vs 628M (-65M)
Keep in mind that this is still the beginning…, Galaxy will play for at least another 10 weeks in theaters. This means that their difference will continue to grow and perhaps faster than we think.
1B+ is definitely happening, but I don‘t see it going much higher than that (especially with Micheal up next, which could be big internationally)
1.00B-1.2B final seems doable.
Japan and South Korea are left.
Super Mario Bros. grossed 18M in South Korea and 102M in Japan, but don‘t expect Galaxy to replicate that in Japan, since sequels usually face a drop in that market + weaker exchange rate.

The Super Mario Bros. movie had crossed nearly 700 million at the end of its 2nd weekend. This running behind by 70+ million isn’t too shabby at all.

Good numbers. Down from first but still a solid run for now. 430-45 mil dom and 1.05-1.1 bil WW.
First Mario hit $677M in two weekends, so this will run past $1B like an invincibility star.
800M by next weekend maybe?

Billion by end of the month?
Pretty good.
My guess for total worldwide is 1.1B – 1.2B depending on how strong Japan and South Korea numbers will be

$1.1 billion
