See, as expected Mario is review proof. I just really, ***really*** wish the studio weren’t aware of that fact and put more effort into the film.
It was a 4/10 to me where the original was a 7/10. At least that one had a coherent narrative. This was just colour and noise strung together in a sequence and then it ended.
Can’t help but feel Mario is going to one of the more boring mega-blockbuster runs in recent memory. Very strong but unremarkable opening day, will probably perform at 80-90% of the first the entirety of its run.
Expectedly harsh drops for PHM and Hoppers but both with silver linings. PHM only down 36% on last Wednesday despite the PLF loss, so should easily be above $30m for the weekend.
And Hoppers looks like it’s held on to $1m for another day. In short, looks like it will survive Mario despite the hit over the next few days.

Not bad holds for Mary and Hoppers in the midst of Mario.

Super Mario Galaxy has biggest WED OD for April release. PHM has take a hit bcause of Super Mario Galaxy but Hoppers amazingly co-exsist with it. Insane for hoppers dropping only 25 percent from previous Wednesday. As Super mario galaxy movie has recieved mixed WOM Hoppers has a real chance of getting 200 million dolllar domestically.
Hoppers and Hail Mary live to see another week of good holds (good considering Mario took 80% of the screens both had)

Identical legs to the first reps a 231m 5 day. I imagine this one’s slightly more front loaded so I’m guessing 215-220m. If it can get that I think $500m is still possibly but barely. Legs will certainly be worse this time

Hoppers still over a million hell yeah.
Right in line with Deadline estimates, which isn’t exactly a good sign. Deadline usually lowballs when it comes to openings. There is a chance that mixed WOM is already affecting it a bit.
Hoppers remains insanely strong, WOW, and Project Hail Mary is doing great as well.
