Slither was released 20 years ago this week. Written and directed by James Gunn in his directorial debut, the $15 million film received positive reviews but flopped at the box office, grossing only $7.8 million domestically and $12.9 million worldwide. The film has since gained a cult following.

James Gunn making a horror comedy looks really scary and cool that I’ve seen that on streaming a couple years ago
Getting re released in cinemas in the UK this week
EDIT 1st of may it will be re released not 1st of April
His best non-MCU film and it isn’t even close
I don’t understand why the appeal was so weak to general audiences, I’m so interested when I saw the promo when I was young.
i bet it did well in dvd sales though—films back then made serious bank on home video.
It’s funny in hindsight people were confused he was directing an MCU film when having watched this film for the first time last year, you can absolutely see why he would be the best director they ever got because all the elements of Guardians are present here (and no it’s not just that Michael Rooker is here)
The pacing, the humor, the old school sci-fi sensibilities, a focus on character that balances sincere relationship drama and comedy, you can see parts of Guardians here.
Well $13 CAD of that $12.9M were from me!
Probably his best movie
