After Godzilla: King of the Monsters underperformed, this was kinda seen as a make or break moment for the MonsterVerse, and it delivered what fans wanted.

Not only did it restore the universe, but it kickstarted the full reopening of theaters!

I remember watching this in theaters when they finally reopened during the pandemic. Despite its flaws (especially with the human characters) I still had a pretty good time watching it.

The 1st post pandemic movie to cross the 400 million mark, despite a day and date streaming release. Giant lizard and big monke shenanigans breathed much needed life into the theatres.

Pretty fun movie that delivers on what it’s title promises, even though I’m still curious to see what the original version was like as apparently it was heavily cut down following KotM underperforming

First movie I saw in theaters after Covid. It absolutely delivers on the promise of a giant budget homage to the goofier Showa Godzilla entries.

Both **MonsterVerse** AND Adam Wingard were at their lowest points when this was made as the former went through a disappointment that is **Godzilla: King of the Monsters** while the latter’s reputation was ruined thanks to **Death Note**. Thankfully, this turned out to be a well-made big dumb blockbuster film and became a starting point of cinemas coming back to life, which is amazing considering that this almost went to Netflix.

I would also like to give a shoutout to Kaylee Hottle, who is actually deaf in real life and turned out to be the best cast member in the film. I honestly hope that she gets to appear in more big and loud blockbuster films in the future.

Finally, this is an example of how to properly spend $200 million budget. You can actually see why this film needed that much money to work on.

  7. The Monsterverse Kong is my guy and I enjoy these movies for what they are.

I honestly just love the spectacle and the unabashed silliness of the Monsterverse, so you know I’ll be there opening weekend to see how absolutely ridiculous Godzilla x Kong in space will be in the next one. Hope they give Kong as sick ass space suit.

Boy this takes me back. Just celebrated my daughter’s fifth birthday yesterday. This was the first movie I saw after coming back from the hospital with her five years ago.

I remember being in the hospital wearing a mask 24/7 for three days during the delivery, then we came back home and I was like…just give me something stupid and fun, cause fuck has this week been stressful.

Sat there on the couch with sleeping wife and a sleeping newborn baby in my arms watching a huge monkey and huge dinosaur punching the shit out of each other and enjoyed every second of it. Neither of them woke up during any of the violent noise haha.
