The final total for this is gonna be less than what Mickey 17 opened with around this time last year, which wasn’t even a huge amount to begin with

Even in an era where overall ticket sales are down, this is a special kind of disaster.

Saw this film last night to a empty screening, this is such a interesting film in the sense I can’t believe a major studio allowed this to be made. I mean a sci-fi, gothic, romantic, feminism, Frankenstein film seems like an extremely tough sell. Jessie Buckley is fantastic, there’s some amazing scenes and imagery, there’s a whole dance sequence that is top notch. I had fun with this film but I can completely see why it bombed. It’s extremely niche and not a general audience film. But if you are down to watch some off the wall weird stuff, I highly recommend going to check this out. Even if you don’t like it, I think you could at least respect the film.

Probably would have been better if it dropped the whole Mary Shelley angle.

I remember when I Saw the first news article about this being a feminist reimagining of the bride of Frankenstein I rolled my eyes. Not because I’m some anti-feminist or anything, but I was just thinking, “Do you really actually have to say that? It’s kind of implied given the character”
