seems like Tom Cruise’s move for his overdued Oscar

I don’t know but is it an original film?

45 years and still going. Man’s a Bonafide legend of the big screen, a cinematic icon. Digger looks full of manic energy. Inarritu’s last leading man got oscar glory. Looks like Cruise will at least find himself in contention.

oscar baity as fuck but I’ll allow it because it’s inarritu + cruise + shot on vistasion + original movie

well can’t really talk about it’s BO now since trailer just came out, but so curious to know how much it will make when it arrives.

Highest grossing inarritu movie of the 2020s easily

I don’t have high hopes for how a politically charged film by Iñárritu will do at the box office; I think it would make less than 200m.

Reminds me a bit of his tropic Thunder performance

I know someone who saw this film. There’s a plot twist that will for sure burn this whole thing to the ground and I’m honestly kinda baffled any studio would sign off on it

This is a weird look. It’s just “remember how cool Tom Cruise is” without actually providing audiences any reason to watch the movie other than his name. The next trailer better showcase why the movie itself looks good and interesting outside of just Tom Cruise’s name.
MovieBuff90 on
I wish this was an actual trailer for the movie instead of this career retrospective bullshit because the movie itself looks pretty awesome.

I thought the last Mission Impossible being a compilation of people saying how cool Tom Cruise is, while showing clips from older movies to show how cool Tom Cruise is, was enough to jerk off Cruise’s ego. I was wrong.

This is just a clip of his previous movies with like 40 seconds of teaser from the actual film. Why?

That aspect ratio is in 1.50:1. I’m guessing that it will be screened in 1.90:1 for venues that are not IMAX GT.

So, ***Dune 3*** and ***Digger*** trailers before *The Odyssey*.
And ***Werwulf*** teaser out on next Monday.

This sub can’t predict anything other than ‘oh wow it’s gonna bomb’ can they??

I can only hope its not some pretentious oscar bait for the sake of it.

He’s gonna win Oscar for this.

This is basically just a video to hype up Oscar voters.

Does anyone know what the budget for this movie is?? And what’s the premise??

What is REALLY interesting about this trailer, and I am sure time will allow us the retrospect in which to unpack it…
…but this really underlines something about modern “IP-ification’ of Hollywood, that the specifics are different, but I think there are some underlying, recurring similarities to other eras. Like, people talk about how there used to be so many original movies, but the process to green light and release films has always been focused on selling what works to an audience.
This teaser is almost beat for beat the last Endgame trailer that supercut the previous 21 MCU movies and ends with a quick hit of new stuff. Tom Cruise is the “IP”, Spielberg in the 80s was the “IP”… the difference isn’t a lack of originality, the difference is studios are banking on concepts over people.
Im just trying to solidify my thoughts a bit, but I never felt it so close to articulation than when I watched this teaser, which literally has an “It all leads to this” sting before the new footage of the actual film they are promoting.
It’s all very interesting to me, not in a “defense” of lazy modern Hollywood, but in more of an attempt at understanding the cycles of what actually gets made in the system dating back 100 years.
Also this looks phenomenal, im sat for Digger already.

I think Digger might do OBAA numbers at best. It’s not Cruise in action mode so it might not do that well overseas either.

One of those films where it will get hyped and hyped and then fail miserably and simply go away like it never existed OR become an All Timer Instant Classic and Guaranteed Best Actor for Tom Cruise.
There’s likely no in between fate for this one.

Well holy shit, I guess I’m going to see Digger

This looks like a return to Rain Man/Color of Money/Magnolia Tom Cruise (all of which did fairly well), so I’m not too concerned about it bombing. And if you wanted to hype the movie but wanted to keep the plot under wraps, wouldn’t it make sense to lean into promoting one of the (if not the) biggest actors in the world?

Seems like he’s just gonna be playing a version of Les Grossman but Texan and somehow crazier.
I’m fucking down for this

This is weird. Yes. A successful actor has a career and is now in your movie. Now, can I see what your film is about?
