Because IMAX is a symbiote of the mainstream cinema industry. It’s not a good sign that it’s an increasing % of the box office because that highlights how weak its host organism is becoming, but stupid people with lots of money may not realise that and just see ‘number got bigger is good’ and want to give the IMAX leadership the best possible exit from a ship that is still quite likely to sink along with everything else.

Can someone explain that if a movie studio actually bought IMAX,
Would they likely restrict it to movies they release or allow other studios to still release in IMAX (A24, GKIDS, Neon)?
