They wanted Alice to be a franchise *so* badly after the first one made as much as it did. Kind of crazy just how bad this one tanked, I guess the novelty was just gone.

Couldn’t even tell you if it was due to the movie just being bad, because I literally don’t remember a thing about it.

Only the Pink’s single song “Just Like Fire” is one of the most popular songs that I’ve heard especially with the end credits although the film was really underwhelming then its predecessor

This remains one of the best examples of a film that was a phenomenon entirely because of timing. That first Alice had peak Johnny Depp hype, post-Avatar 3D mania, and the Tim Burton name.

The sequel arrived after literally every single one of these factors cooled off.

Alas, this turned out to be an even bigger disappointment than the previous film was. Maybe I didn’t miss a whole lot when I skipped this one. At least they adapted both books into live-action films, I guess?

I was one of the few (apparently lol) that loved the first one and at the time this came out wanted to go see it but never did because there was just so much else coming out around that time. Studios gotta chill on stacking releases because that’s the kinda stuff that happens lol

    6. Genuinely a weird drop. It is a weird film, but was Alice really not popular?

      Wow.

Before “Captain Marvel” (2019) and “The Marvels” (2023), there was “Alice in Wonderland” (2010) and “Through the Looking Glass” (2016).

The writing was on the wall when “Dark Shadows” (2012) – ***which reunited Alice’s Tim Burton and Johnny Depp*** – performed poorly, and then “The Lone Ranger” (2013) – ***which reunited Alice’s Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp*** – also performed poorly.
