I was a junior in high school when this came out. Still high off how much I loved the first two movies, I was super into the Astonishing X-Men comic run by Whedon (yikes) with the cure storyline at this point in time, and also following all the production news about both X3 and Superman Returns because Singer (YIKES) bounced to it.
I fucking hated this movie when I saw it on release day and I haven’t watched it since, and I have a feeling it didn’t improve with age. Although I do still get a chuckle out of the mom on the bridge locking her car door as if that’s gonna stop Magneto.

As a kid I had no idea what was even going on in these movies, but I kept seeing them just to look at Hugh Jackman

Vividly remember the house standoff where Logan got shot

I don’t hate this film, but yeah, it’s not that good of a film when compared to previous two.
Also, may I remind you that the film’s budget is like $210 million? This is a serious problem because **Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest** had a budget of $225 million (which is only $15 million higher) and looked like it justified such budget a lot better than this did.

They should have re-released X-Men in theaters last year for its 25th anniversary.

They really did Scott dirty in these movies. Jackman did his best but the film has too much going on with juxtaposing two different storylines and bogged down pacing.

So entertaining. I watch it once or twice every year.

I will never get tired of defending this movie. It‘s overstuffed af and both storylines probably deserved a more faithful adaptation but I still think it works pretty well as the original sendoff to the OG cast.
They pretty much followed up on all storylines they set up throughout the trilogy and the fight scenes (especially the one at Jean‘s parents‘ house) are really well executed. Yeah, Scott was butchered (but also due to some behind the scenes drama) and Erik‘s decision to leave Raven behind after she got „cured“ never sat right with me but overall it‘s a tightly written movie that I still enjoy.
The problem is that people were/are so hung up on the animated X-Men show and always use it as a reference. I haven’t watched it tbf, but I think comparing a long running animated show to a movie in regards to character and story development is kinda stupid. It also fell into the same trap as Spider-Man 3. At that time the third installment of a trilogy always had to go bigger and faster so they probably bit off more than they could chew.

I always enjoyed it. And the soundtrack by John Powell is an all-timer.
