I think this was always supposed to come out in 2021, but in a non-COVID environment I think it easily makes Maleficent numbers (250M DOM / 750M WW)
Disney’s Devil Wears Prada (which is ironic now but anyway…)
A pleasant surprise the one time I saw it. And yeah the Dalmatian assassination is so ridiculous, I admire the audacity.
Emma Stone killed it as Cruella, and the script/story was surprisingly well done. I’ve been getting Devil Wears Prada and Joker vibes from this throughout.
The most fun Disney remake/revamp.

This is still the only Disney movie I’ve seen in theaters over 5 times out of 50 films. Disney really tried something different making a PG-13, 2 Hours and 14 minutes Cruella film.
5 years already?! Time flies.
I actually quite liked this movie, mostly because they actually attempted to do *something* with the story instead of just retelling the animated one’s. Emma Stone was great in it, and I loved some of the outfits they came up with for her to wear. The dress made out of newspapers talking bad about her was iconic.
Just like Maleficent, I didn’t like the direction they went with this character’s origin story.
2021 is such an interesting year to look back on for Disney.
