Wondering what is the predictions for my son's biggest cinema event of the year: Minions and Monsters aka Minions 3.
First Minions movie was a break out hit, scoring over a billion back when few animated movies did (it was the second highest at the time). Second one didn't do quite as well in 2022 like most franchises post-COVID, but still had a VERY respectable box office finish probably partially thanks to the "Gentleminions" trend. But Despicable Me 4 made close to the same in 2024 so its obvious this franchise still has gas in the tank.
Where does this one end up? Over a billion again? Under $900 million for the first time for the franchise since Despicable Me 1?

Yeah.
This is the first Minions in awhile that looks actually creative. I wouldn’t even be shocked if it surpasses expectations
I’m thinking over $900M like DM4, but not quite $1B. It’s a possibility though

It really depends on how massive Toy Story 5 and Moana are going to be.
850M-950M worldwide would be my guess.

Waits for the people who dont have kids, just hate kids movies in general to shit on these movies to say no. How the plots are shit. The animation is shit and the story is shit.

All these movies have to do is provide well-animated slapstick and people will show up in droves and eat them up. Which they have, and this movie looks no different in that department. So yes
I hope so, it’s one of my picks in my Fantasy League.

Im bullish on this I think they did a good job with the advertising in this capturing a summer blockbuster feel I think despicable me 4 didnt really have Im saying it gets to a billion

I dont know. In my opinion this looks like an improvement over recent installments Despicable Me 4 and Minions 2 (which in itself I consider an improvement over Minions 1) but this one is also sandwiched between Toy Story 5 and Moana, while yes, Despicable Me 4 came shortly after tha giant blockbuster hit Inside Out 2 (1.7B!) it also had minimal competition in the family market for the rest of the summer. I think this may land in the 800s at the moment but I could be wrong. I think whether Moana does Lilo & Stitch numbers or The Little Mermaid numbers could definitely make a difference on this movie.
