Not only do the adult jokes become more clear as you get older, but the themes also hit harder, especially Shrek’s genuinely great and heartbreaking story. Not even joking or talking about memes.

If I’m being honest, I feel like this film kind of didn’t age well for some reason. Like, I’m pretty sure that it’s a great film overall, but some of the jokes feel a bit old.

If you ask me, Shrek 2 is always going to be the best one in the franchise, but this first movie is nothing short of iconic. Still quoting many of the scenes to this day, the fact that it’s been 25 years makes me feel old as hell.
