I’m happy for both. I’m not quite as much a fan of Michael, as I feel the movie is rather mediocre, but I’m more than happy for it’s success. Now Prada I absolutely adored, and I love that it’s kicking ass and taking names. Movies like this, and especially sequels, don’t really do this well.

Honestly I could see Michael taking a run at $400m at this point

I fully believe it would have still been massive if it had been ready for its original October date last year.
As big as this is now, Thriller/Halloween time would have allowed it to be even bigger at least on opening weekend though the total would probably even out. And it could have played into Thanksgiving and even Christmas.

The movie isn’t objectively bad , it’s a genuinely good (yet imperfect) film. Better than bohemian rhapsody in my opinion. That’s why even non fans are showing up.
Those early scenes with the Jackson family were perfect set up. Like when Joe is trying to boss the Motown leader and discipline Michael and he can’t and the Jackson kids celebrate, then Michael hugs a man he just Met.
Many non fans are relating to the story because dominant father vs. son it’s the basis of many good literature works and is something that gave the movie nuance. It’s not just music , there’s heart here.
