Yeah it’s hitting a billion most likely, the question for me is whether it hits in May or June.

    2. Has been on track to hit a billion for weeks now, hopefully this quells some doubt.

Loool. Really great legs (thanks to Japan). $1B is locked, but won’t go beyond $1.03B

Almost to $1 billion! Less than $60 million away. It can still make it!

For the first time the Mon-Sun hold was better than the first movie, $990M-1.01B

A Minecraft Movie finished its global run with 960M.

Everything is pointing towards a 1B+ final for Super Mario Galaxy!

Now, we only need to wait a couple of weeks. Patience guys, patience!

Universal/Illumination/Nintendo can be happy with this result, but in order to avoid another significant decrease, they‘ll have to improve on the quality or else this was the last time a Mario film earns 1B+!

The current TOP 10 Animation ranking remains unchanged:

      1. Ne Zha 2 – 2.2B
      2. Zootopia 2 – 1.87B
      3. Inside Out 2 – 1.7B
      4. The Lion King – 1.66B
      5. Frozen II – 1.45B
      6. The Super Mario Bros. Movie – 1.36B
      7. Frozen – 1.28B
      8. Incredibles 2 – 1.24B
      9. Minions – 1.15B
      10. Toy Story 4 – 1.07B

It’s could either make 9 times its budget or it will cross $1B but barely think JWD and TDK.

    8. Yeah, billions are more likely coming, thanks to Japan and South Korea too.

    9. This is gonna get dragged past the 1B mark but it will get there even if it passes it JW3 style.

    10. Ok_Satisfaction8788 on

Ya let’s not kid ourselves it made $47m this week alone. It’ll cross $1B in the next 2-3 weeks

    11. GoldenGirlsFan213 on

Wow my guess was exactly right.
I said around 940ish and we at 940 million.
It’ll most likely hit a billion if the stabilization of 500K through out the weekdays domestically and Japan and memorial days final push. It should beat Minecraft this week or be around its earnings.

The movie is looking like a dominion situation where it’ll earn 1.003 billion at the most

Okay yeah 1b is happening. Lilo and Stitch was at like 946m at this point.

Its been hilarious how close a billion has been looking these past few weeks.

International gross last weekend was 32.2m. So, a more than 50% drop.

Japan is what’s keeping its international numbers alive. 13m more domestic. 24m more Japan. 3m more South Korea. That gets Mario 981m.

I’m not sure how much more it has left in other markets. Its down to 5th place or lower in most countries. Its going to be so close Universal will push it over.

    15. I would delay the digital release date til June. I saw comments that some people are waiting til friends and partners are actually free from work or commitments to see it.

IDK what everyone else is seeing that I’m not?

Lots of “1B locked” posts but the numbers look closer to ~990M to me? IDK

    19. Big week with golden week, let’s see how international fares over the next 7 days.

    20. Should’ve been much higher but like Moana 2, this is definitely clearing a billion just due to the power of the brand.
