Unbelievable that this is made for only slightly more than the first movie. It shows that the first movie had a huge mismanagement of funds in my opinion. Or a very poor screenplay writer and set designer.

Wasn’t the first one a Covid movie?
Australia significantly increased their incentives starting in 2023.
That means 2 had a much higher gross budget than 1, but a very similar net budget because of the improved incentive.
It’s why a lot of productions are heading there. Apparently Baywatch will go to Gold Coast if it goes to series because the economics of shooting LA were untenable.
