I don’t think Mario is getting past a billion. Maybe reaches 950 – 980 mill at most.

No billion for Mario this time. Toy story 5 gonna be the #1 animated film of the year.

Early digital release is gonna kill a 1 billion dream, if Japan and SK opened earlier then maybe it could have been close

Man, this is going to be closer than I thought it would be.
It all comes down to Japan.
$980M – $1.050B
Edit: I still think it’s going to pass a billion due to better legs internationally than Minecraft had

Going to barely cross the billion dollar mark from the looks of it. Great run but it still is obvious Disney continues to rule the box office animation wise.

The big difference between Bros and Galaxy’s grosses is the international turnout: Galaxy’s currently at $444m OS, up $52m from last week’s $392m.
It is looking to end around $520 – $550m internationally, a sizable decrease from Bros’ $785m. Couple that with around $420 – $435m domestically, a nearly $150m drop, and it misses $1B.
Add to the fact that Universal just announced its PVOD release date for May 5, which is just 8 days away.

I still think this just squeaks past a billy kinda like JW Dominion, but the lower weekend actuals in Japan are pretty damning.
