Knowing James Watkins is directing, and Mike Flanagan’s writing, I’m seated.

I’m really torn on this. I think most of the trailer looks pretty good and scary, but the reveal of the big club arm in shadows looked so silly and goofy.
But then, that’s what I want Clayface to be doing, I want him to be a big mud guy making knife hands and shit. We’ll have to see how it looks in the final movie but that bit really took me out of this

Only $40M budget means this is very likely to turn a profit.
But how much?

>Look fear in the face. #Clayface hits theaters this October.
>DC Studios’ first-ever foray into the genre, “Clayface” is a horror thriller from director James Watkins, starring Tom Rhys Harries in the title role of the Gotham City villain.
>“Clayface” unravels one man’s horrifying descent from rising Hollywood star to revenge-filled monster in a story that explores the loss of one’s identity and humanity, corrosive love, and the dark underbelly of scientific ambition.
Okay, I was optimistic, but I didn’t expect this level of success. It’s coming out on Halloween, so I think this movie will surprise us all.
I’m very interested in it as a standalone film, not at all as a new DCU film. The trailer is very interesting; Clayface is a fascinating character and fits perfectly with this horror tone. I’m also curious to see the young actor’s performance, given that he’s been praised in various announcement posts. Batman villains usually bring good luck, so who knows if that will be a factor during the awards show.

I was already sold with Mike Flanagan involved but yeah it looks great.

I think this is outgrossing supergirl ngl I can see this becoming a sleeper hit during the horror season

Excellent teaser. Crisp, sharply edited, incredibly jarring. Some of the shots look really good, particularly the faceless one at the end.

Really effective trailer. does great job of showing the horror vibes of the character
If its really good, I can see between 80 and 100 millions. Clayface is one of Batman’s more iconic villains and giving him a actual body horror movie is the right direction.
Also, look fear in the face is a great line and the poster is just so eerie

Honestly I can see this turning a profit. A 40 million budget is pretty decent, as long as it’s marketed well and doesn’t blow I think it could make a profit.
The effects and look of the movie so far look nice as well. Hope this does well, since it’d branch out superhero movies to try and be more creative, I think joker 2 scared off a lot of studios💀

Since the budget is what? Sub $60 million? Very likely this makes money. Horror is a fairly resilient genre, and I think this trailer bodes well. Not likely to fall into the pit of “Batman villain movie that doesn’t have Batman” like Sony fell into with their ill-conceived “Sony’s Spider-Man(less) Universe”

looks goooood. with a low budget, great talent attached, and completely detached from the greater DCU narrative, this is gonna attract a lot of people who don’t normally tune into comic book stuff. plus the pre-halloween release frame is gonna do wonders. expecting great numbers for this

I’ll be honest, this isn’t my type of film, but I’m intrigued enough to give it a try. That was a good trailer.
Kinda seems like the male version of the substance
What Joker 2 should have been.
