Reminds me of the “lamentations” that British generals in WW1 made of Tommies going over the top into No Man’s Land.
Donkey’s leading Lions indeed. If Zas really cared about WB or the people losing their jobs, he’d help them out. Or give up some of his compensation to ensure that employees laid off don’t suffer too much.
He’s just as greedy and run of the mill as all Hollywood bosses have been at the end of the day.

>“[Zaslav]’s like a funeral parlor attendant who dressed up the corpse, made it look good enough for the funeral — good enough to sell — and is getting away with half a billion dollars. Un-be-lieve-able,” says one rival studio chief.

Before the Discovery-Zaslav move everything was agreed between Comcast and AT&T so this or similar deal was always happening.

How soon will we know if the studio dies I MEAN the merger is approved?
With any luck, the debt will scare WB off.

After everything he’s done as CEO of Warner Bros, especially selling out to Ellison and Paramount-Skydance, I wouldn’t be surprised if, behind the scenes, WBD’s Board Members finally held a no-confidence vote in Zaslav in secret, before deciding to give him that $500 million as a very generous redundancy package, telling him he has to take it, or they’ll force him to leave WBD anyway.
If you’ve seen The Office (the original British version), you’ll understand what I’m talking about.

I knew when the “most consecutive $40M openers” bit was going around like 40 is a normal number (they’d have used 50 if they could) that WB was putting their thumb on the access journalism scale
