Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky is heading back to theaters in a remastered 4K release for its 50th anniversary.

Amazon MGM Studios and Park Circus are teaming up with Fathom Entertainment for a limited theatrical run of the 1976 classic from November 7 through November 11. Along with the rerelease, audiences will get an exclusive sneak peek at Amazon MGM’s upcoming biographical drama I Play Rocky, which focuses on the making of the original film.

The screenings will also include a special intro from the cast of I Play Rocky and director Peter Farrelly.

Originally released in 1976, Rocky was both a box office success and a critical hit, and it still holds a 93% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

For anyone who somehow hasn’t seen it, the film follows Rocky Balboa, a struggling Philadelphia boxer who gets a once-in-a-lifetime shot at the heavyweight title after champion Apollo Creed picks him for a publicity-driven match. Against all odds, Rocky trains hard and goes the distance.

Directed by John G. Avildsen and written by Stallone, the film stars:

Sylvester Stallone as Rocky

Talia Shire as Adrian

Burt Young as Paulie

Carl Weathers as Apollo Creed

Burgess Meredith as Mickey

Made on a budget of just $960,000, Rocky went on to gross $225 million worldwide and became one of the most iconic sports movies ever made.

Fathom Entertainment called it “the ultimate inspirational sports movie masterpiece” and said Rocky 50 will be a must-see theatrical event.
