The original Black Ops or the original Modern Warfare trilogy. Place you bets now.
Adapting anything else would be complete madness.

wtf does $35 Billion mean and why is that what they’re running with?

They turned away Steven motherfucking Spielberg for this shit. Another reason why Activision needs to be taken out back and shot. Anyway, expect Bayformers but worse. Probably with Mahky Mahk as USMC Captain Price.

Summer 2028 is starting to get slowly filled:
May 2028:
X-Men (most likely), The Mummy 4, Final Destination 7, Lilo & Stitch 2
June 2028:
Jurassic World: Rebirth sequel (possible), Incredibles 3, and Call of Duty.

Do not know what to expect from the Sheridan half of it, but Peter Berg is exactly who I’d want for a Call of Duty movie.

If it keeps some of the moral complexity from the better stories in the franchise, then this could be really good. Especially with the Sheridan and Berg, who have done a great job making films with morally complex situations.
But this is Ellison’s Paramount. Sadly this is about to be vanilla and easy to digest as hell.

I certainly won’t be watching this. But it will probably do well at the box office.

I wonder what the direction they will go for, will they adapt the games? or will it be an original story set in the Call Of Duty world?

Perfect release date. The Fourth of July will be on the Tuesday after this so it can enjoy a nice 5-day opening weekend domestically.
I’m just curious to see if this will be an original story or an adaptation of one of the popular titles like Modern Warfare or Black Ops.

This is the most David Ellison thing imaginable: a military video game adaptation directed by Berg and written by Sheridan.

Detective Pikachu situation where we try to predict a billion because it’s the biggest brand ever and stuff so that when it only does like $500M, we cry and scream.

Spielberg can go suck on his creative control. Peter Berg is going to give exactly what the original creative geniuses at Activision wants…

This could literally be anything. There is nothing iconic to call of duty that couldn’t be in literally any military movie. Shit you could change the title of Band of Brothers to Call of Duty and no one would be the wiser.

Taylor Sheridan? So this may actually be pretty decent. This also has Alan Ritchsons name all over it.

I’m curious how this will do since it’s super popular and a name even outside of gamers, but I don’t think it will translate into a particularly unique war movie which could hinder it.

Peter Berg’s movies struggled critically cos half the time he’s been making Call of Duty movies. If Taylor Sheridan writes an action packed Sicario esque story and Berg blows up shit to tell it this could be good
