  1. Great results all around.

Mario was expected, but Project Hail Mary did better than anyone could have predicted.

    I don’t think a billion is guaranteed. $925-$975m.
Those $10m weekdays last week will turn into $2-$3m this week.

With Galaxy looking at a likely $1.05 – $1.19 billion finish, it opens up the possibilities of being dethroned from the top Hollywood spot before Spider-Man. Contenders are:

    * **LA Moana** – Could be another Lilo & Stitch situation, but add that the animated film is the most streamed film on Disney Plus and has a banger soundtrack. Trailer views were also the highest for a LA remake since The Lion King (2019). For a family movie, that is telling.
    * **The Odyssey** – If Oppenheimer, a 3-hour R-rated dialogue-heavy film could gross $970m, we cannot rule out the possibility of this one doing over a billion, especially with how popular the story is, starring literally the most stacked cast since Endgame. If it is PG-13, that settles it.
    * **Toy Story 5** – Animation films are *the* hottest thing at the box office right now, and it’s been 7 years since the last Toy Story film. Nostalgia, family appeal, and the promise of a quality film should ~~proper~~ propel this to a far higher box office than its previous installments.

Will be interesting to see what comes out on top. Whatever it is, theatres will be feasting like kings for the next few months.
