That should be an easy writing project. Those games are half movies anyway with like 30 minute cutscenes every two seconds

MGS is thankfully a video game franchise that can translate well into movies. MGS1 itself is pretty short and super cutscene heavy, and you can probably trim down MGS2 and 3 into 2.5 hour films.

    3. Metal Gear is near the top of my list of favorite franchises and represents some of the best storytelling in gaming–which is to say, obv Sony is making it, but I suuuuure wish it was a studio I trusted more with adaptations.

So I guess Jordan Vogt-Roberts is just never gonna work again? His go-to response to being asked what he was working on was developing Metal Gear Solid for the big screen.

wasn’t the guy who did kong: skull island doing this at one point?

    6. >They are also developing the original sci-fi epic *The Earthling* for Columbia Pictures, which they are attached to direct and will produce alongside Eric Heisserer and Scott Glassgold.

Original sci-fi is a tough sell these days but i’ll gladly take it.

    7. Wasn’t Jordan Vogt-Roberts slated to make a MGS movie? He hasn’t done anything since Kong Skull Island and i was assuming he’d be working on that.

Imagine going from making a Kim Possible film to a Final Destination film to a Metal Gear Solid film. A lot can happen in the span of 7 years.

I really hope they don’t do this. The only real way to narratively do the story is to start with Metal Gear on the MSX, maybe combine Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake.

      They won’t do that

I can’t picture Kojima liking these guys the way he liked Jordan Vogt-Roberts but ok.
