Apparently, this move is because J.J. Abrams relocated to New York and is scaling back operations, hence the potential layoffs.

Ever since Black Bear acquired their Santa Monica headquarters late last year, I expected this to happen and doesn’t surprise me at all.

  2. Shame. They took a lot of swings over the years. When they worked, they worked out big. But when they didn’t, the blast radius was bigger.

My best to those let go. (Shameful of you to fire staff on Passover, JJ.) Hope they can bounce back elsewhere. I’m sure they still have ideas.

Say what you want about him as a director, he is a damn fine television producer.

    I wish him luck.

The film world equivalent of Bernie Madoff’s organization getting busted

  5. Mystery boxes don’t work anymore

Audiences are tired of having the set ups and creators, pretending they have a satisfying conclusion to them. Only for it to be purgatory all the while

Cloverfield is just one mystery box

  6. JJ Abrams never recovered from Rise of Skywalker

Edit: I knew I’d get downvoted for this but can anyone tell me what movie he’s directed since 2019?
