Seems like that Empire account is bad at predicting video game movies box office after FNAF2 and now Mario Galaxy, not sure what he predicted for Minecraft but nobody seemed to have predicted where it ended up

Feel like these Big Ip video games films are operating like the old days of Mcu simply too much appeal to fail

This was always going to be an easy billion dollar movie. It’s Mario. It’s fan service. It’s fun. Idk if it reaches the 1st one but 1.2 billion seems doable

It’ll be truly massive. My audience was going crazy. The dude next to me literally was crying and had his mouth wide open in glee the whole runtime and the entire audience went crazy at every little reference and cute thing. Everyone coming out was also talking about how cool Fox was so that bodes well if they choose to give that a spin off.

Side note: my theater really seemed to enjoy the Oak Street trailer and were HYPED at the BND. Oddly enough, my theater did not show the Supergirl trailer. They did show the Sonic 4 teaser though and that got a small reaction.

This has 55 showtimes today at my local 18 screen theater.

A typical Wednesday will have 90 showtimes for all films.

It reminds me of well the last Mario film. Review proof like the Minions films

An identical multiplier would get this to $237m 5 day. I imagine it’ll be slightly more front loaded so let’s say $220-230m

As a Mario fan since childhood, I had a really good time with it. I feel like we need a little escapism like this when the world is going to hell, even if it’s not as good as a project Hail Mary
