IMAX has confirmed they will work with theaters “in the coming weeks and months” to find slots where they can bring Project Hail Mary back onto their screens. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will take over IMAX and most premium screens starting Wednesday.

As ever: It’s insane that everything is “filmed for IMAX” and IMAX remains less than 1% of screens.
Theaters made this bed.
Maybe I’m not recognizing how important Mario is to kids but I just feel as fun as those films can be they’re not that special to need an IMAX like PHM is. And definitely not “as well made”
But shouldn’t they bring The Bride back instead?
I know that the Mario movie is gonna be crazy successful and shit, so you don’t have to remind me, but it seems so silly that PHM, a movie damn near tailor made for Imax, is gonna lose most of them to Mario Galaxy, which isn’t really made for Imax from my understanding.
In the UK it’s a school holiday so there is definitely value in putting Mario for the day but having PHM for an evening show, I imagine it’ll change slightly when term begins again
Good luck with that. Mario will gross two billion
The weekend of the April 17th would be the most obvious timeslot to bring PHM back when Super Mario’s IMAX run ends and before Michael hits the screens.
I’ll take whatever IMAX slots they can squeeze in later, it’s such a glorious experience.
This reminds me of when Patrick confirmed he would work with me “in the coming weeks and months” to find slots where I could spend time with my wife again…
It’s been confirmed that Project Hail Mary is coming back onto IMAX 70mm screens for one week (April 17-April 23).
No word on whether digital IMAX screens will get back the film, but since The Mummy will probably get evening/nighttime showings, it’s a possibility that it will come into digital IMAX
Hopefully Project Hail Mary gets back its IMAX screens like on April 17 similar to what Sinners got the IMAX backs in select theaters on May 15 when Final Destination Bloodlines debut
