I remember that Zack Snyder made a female lead action film back in 2011 which didn’t work and when I saw it on streaming years ago, it was really underwhelming and terrible for a Zack Snyder film especially with most of the female lead action films struggling right now that feels like made for streaming

It’s not a bad idea. I can see what Snyder was going for, but the execution is terrible, and the movie ends up being pretty boring. It feels like a mix of *Alice in Wonderland* (Snyder described it as “Alice in Wonderland with machine guns”), *Inception, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest*, *300*, and *Starship Troopers* with some attempted commentary on sexism, but it all comes off as mismatched and unfocused.
It also doesn’t help that we’ve already seen this kind of concept done much better in films like *Pan’s Labyrinth*, which is far more compelling and cohesive.

This used to be the worst film made by Zack Snyder (at least until **Rebel Moon** came along) and while the extended cut is somewhat better, it was still not good enough. Speaking of which, the reason why the extended cut is rated R is because of Baby Doll about to enjoy having sex and Synder was asked to make it look like she was less into it, but because he felt like that was either ruining the point of the scene, he decided to take it out entirely and put it in the extended cut even though MPA (known as MPAA back then) was okay with a rape attempt being kept as PG-13, which goes on to show how full of shit MPA truly is (and remember, BBFC gave both versions 12A).
For what its worth, those action scenes were pretty good overall and somewhat reminded me of **Speed Racer**, except darker – and it managed its $82 million budget very well overall. Sure, I wouldn’t use this film’s budget to trash budgets of films like **Alice in Wonderland** ($200 million), **Clash of the Titans** ($125 million), Inception ($160 million), **The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader** ($155 million), **TRON: Legacy** ($170 million), **Thor** ($150 million), **Transformers: Dark of the Moon** ($195 million), **Captain America: The First Avenger** ($140 million), **Cowboys & Aliens** ($163 million), **Real Steel** ($110 million), **Wrath of the Titans** ($150 million), **The Avengers** ($220 million), **Snow White and the Huntsman** ($170 million), **Total Recall** ($125 million), or **Cloud Atlas** ($102 million) since those ones clearly required a lot more CGI or practical effects, but even so, this film’s overall budget management should not be dismissed just because the film itself sucked.

It seemed Zach Snyder had some really cool action scenes in his head and made zero effort on a cohesive plot to make it interesting. And bless her heart, Emily Browning is absolutely beautiful and a terrible actress.

I enjoy this movie. I’m not saying it’s a good movie, but it’s a good time if you know what you’re in for.
Love how every Extended Cut of his movies isn’t any better than the theatrical version.

It’s a funny movie because I adore it, but the whole thematic point is that trying to figure out what ‘300 for girls’ would be is an intellectual dead end. So, yeah, the movie feels like a circuitous, thematic dead end, because it’s about a thought that can’t really be completed.
Which, you know, is obviously one of those love it or hate it things. I get that most people hate it, and I understand WHY they hate it, and I even think the haters understand the movie just fine and I’m okay with that. I love it, though.

Just how does Snyder even have a cult fanbase? His films are all what a edgy 14 year old would think are deep.
