This may be a hot take but I think the Scream movies should have a whole new set of main characters each film. It just gets straight up implausible when this is happening to the same characters for the seventh time

Good. 7 was easily the worst directed Scream movie.

The logical choice seems to be to still continue with Sidney’s family but is there an outside chance of another semi reboot?

Makes sense.
I personally would really like to see a Scream film with a completely new cast…, let’s start over…, new location, new cast, new story, new mask…, this would make me really excited for a new Scream film.
Final Destination 6 for instance benefited a lot from that actually…, it felt fresh and interesting.
Although, I’m not sure if they are “brave” enough to do this…, they are likely going to rely on nostalgia again, let’s see.

Good his directing is unremarkable and bland

I’m interested to see what hook they can come up with this time to get the same hype for 8 they got for 7. The only thing I can think of is Stu coming back for real with some type of good plot.

Scream 8 will likely take a noticeable drop off at the BO

Good. They need the semi-reboot the whole thing the quality of Scream 5 and 6 bailed them out this time but won’t next time.

There goes the franchise, I wonder who will take the helm for Scream 8. Because it’s dying, critical proof or not, but they do make a lot of money. They need to move on from Kevin Williamson, but he should stick to just writing for the franchise.

Surely I’d like to take him at his word but everyone says NO, until they get offered a huge payday.

Even with Scream 7 being a hit, I doubt they were gonna bring him back for 8 to oversee the course correction.

This is really weird. Just three weeks ago he spoke about scenes he was writing for 8.
He also said Neve had an idea for 8 while filming 7, and that “they really ran with it”. So I assume it’s been written for a while. So maybe he’s writing?
However, apparently he said before filming he wouldn’t return to direct 8. (As seen in the What’s Your Favorite Scary Movie book).

Yea there’s to smoke on the scream franchise at

The next Scream needs to focus on writing a good mystery. The last two films had terrible writing and the killer reveals were either insanely stupid or out of nowhere.
