Every time I look up reviews for this film since its early premiere last night I see a ton of people saying the last 30 minutes are some of the scariest things they’ve ever seen in a horror movie which definitely has me intrigued. I haven’t had many theatrical horror experiences that gave me that kind of intense unease aside from The Outwaters so I’m really hoping this one delivers.
I’m a little annoyed that all the AMCs near me are only showing it in regular format and the closest Dolby Cinema screening is about an hour away.l because I was really hoping to get the full experience of the sound design since so many people are saying it’s what’s really messing with them and making the third act really terrifying. Still, even seeing it in a regular format could make for a fun double bill with my last Scream 7 repeat viewing if I go Thursday, though I might just wait until the weekend.

It’s a festival acquisition, the filmmakers already made a profit when A24 bought it and the director is attached to the next Paranormal Activity movie coming out in 2027. Undertone will give audiences a preview of his style before his next big project.

That’s… kind of inspiring honestly. Instead of saving up for a 500K house, someone could save up and make a 500K movie if that’s their dream instead lol.

With Iron Lung making a huge profit of $51M WW on a budget of $4M, Undertone looks like another huge profit with a low budget of just $500K which should be a win for A24
