What is Amazon doing man. This is not sustainable. Just assuming Hemsworth, Ruffallo, and Halle Berry got like 15m paydays or something ridiculous
I understand Amazon pays streaming money without the backend (we theorize), but thats not going to be talked about in the reports when this flops, especially against the budget, on Monday or Tuesday morning.
How many more dogshit headlines can Amazon take before they just pull the plug on Theatrical like Apple did

Bomba written all over it. Nothing looks particularly noteworthy or unique in an era where that’s definitely needed to get butts in seats. Probably would have broken even 15 years ago, definitely won’t now.
EDIT: just saw this has a 100% on RT, what the fuck was Amazon doing with the marketing for this thing?

Worth remembering that Amazon has inflated budgets because streaming giants pay more upfront and don’t give out back-end deals – something to consider when discussing Amazon/Apple/Netflix’s theatrical releases and their budgets

What does this mean for Crime 102?

Whoa – Bart Layton is doing it?! I’m suddenly very interested – American Animals is damm near the most underrated and brilliant crime flick of the last decade or so.

*Wow,* that’s a lot. I admire AMGM’s WB-like commitment to just saying “HERE’S MONEY GO FUCKING NUTS,” but even De Luca and Abdy’s wild bets made sense. Yes, give $100 million to the *Black Panther* guy. Yeah, let’s have the *Barbarian* director go nuts in Georgia. *One Battle After Another* is the only true question mark; even then, PTA’s shitload of Oscar nods is enough to eat the loss with pride.
Here? *What the hell are you guys doing?* I was expecting this to cost $60 million, ***max.*** Either these guys have the shittiest accountants ever, or Mike Hopkins just wants to burn as much money as Bezos/Jassy will let him.
And it’s not just *Crime 101.* Chris Pratt in a chair got $60 million. Pro-regime propaganda got $75. MOTU? ***$200 fucking million,*** and it looks generic at best and God awful at worst.
MGM, please do better.
