Given that “Send Help” got $2.2 million in previews, I wonder how much money it’ll make this weekend. $19 million?

The youtuber to filmmaker pipleine seems to be the three headed dragon meme with RackaRacka and Markiplier, and the third head with the googly eyes is Stuckmann.
I only hears about it though this sub. They really haven’t done any marketing

All the marketing was pretty much the fans helping this become a wide release. Everything else is just gravy

wasn’t crazy about this movie. I do applaud Markiplier for pouring blood sweat and tears (well, there werent really any tears when there maybe should have been tbh) into adapting a video game like this, but man it made for a pretty underwhelming experience through and through. Its about 30 minutes too long (apparently the entire game only takes like 45 min to play through) and the audio mixing is really quite bad, theres a lot of exposition being dumped by a character through a speaker, and it was so hard to understand I thought it was just where i was sitting in my theater but apparently thats just how the film was mixed. Also, Mark really isnt an actor at all and it shows
I don’t see this having legs at all, anyone who would be remotely interested in seeing this will have seen it by this weekend

This kind of thing is unreproducible. No YouTuber has the same sustained fanbase as Markiplier. Even if you don’t follow him or haven’t in a long time, you remember the wacky guy from 2014 who screamed at the funny bear. That gives him not only name recognition and a built-in audience but also a “legacy film” buff since it plays off of memberberries. Anyone else who tries this won’t see the same success, and they’ll have to be financed by a studio.

They don’t need marketing budget when director has YouTube channel with 40 million subscribers

I haven’t even seen a trailer. I’m gonna check it out blind tomorrow.

Good to see independent movies succeeding. Even if this really can’t be replicated unless you have massive dedicated online following.

So it’s already profitable after early shows?

Already a success in its opening. Nice to see.
