Sample Reviews:
Bilge Ebiri, New York Magazine/Vulture – The point of a behind-the-scenes rock doc is that weâre getting something that feels like a true portrait of the artist. The Moment thinks it can have the best of both worlds, but it gives us neither.
Taylor Williams, Slant Magazine 2/4 – Farce and sincerity make more odd bedfellows across Aidan Zamiriâs meta mockumentary about Brat Summer.
Monica Castillo, RogerEbert.com 2.5/4 – 'The Moment' is something different, a big swing into the mockumentary genre satirizing the pressures of pop stardom and the struggle for creative control.
Johnny Oleksinski, New York Post 2/4 – If you like Charli xcxâs songs and find her to be a unique and uncompromising presence… youâll appreciate moments of âThe Moment.â But thatâs it. This is not a fully formed movie. At best, itâs a moderately intriguing pitch.
Adrian Horton, Guardian 3/5 – In other words, smart concepts, talented people, solid blueprint. But there is too little risk to rise above its sharp-eyed construction.
Chase Hutchinson, TheWrap – Itâs honest about the deception that is inherent to celebrity, confronting us with one compromise after another, building to a pitch-perfect finale needle-drop over a captivating monologue that elevates the comedy into a work of grand, messy ambition.
Richard Lawson, The Hollywood Reporter – At the end of the movie, itâs all too easy to shrug oneâs shoulders and dismiss it with a resigned, âGuess you had to be there.â
Owen Gleiberman, Variety – Iâm sorry, but this is not how an effective mockumentary works. I actually think âThe Momentâ should have pushed further into crackpot satirical extremes.
Nick Schager, The Daily Beast – May have things to say, but doesnât have a clue how to say them.

I think this was made specifically for her fans and no one else
So a semi-satirical deconstruction of “The Industry”? We already have a bunch of those so they have to actually be good. Sounds like this is pretentious while not actually being that groundbreaking or funny? Bummer
people online are coping with this tepid response by saying itâs âBRATâ to have bad reviews⊠lol
At least it doesnât seem to be Hurry Up Tomorrow levels of bad. I was kinda expecting that from the trailer
If this flops we might get a pause on commissioning films like this.
Which I think is ok.
