Annapolis was released twenty years ago today. The $26 million military sports drama was panned by critics and flopped with a $17 million gross.

I didn’t commission through the Naval Academy, but I was an officer in the Navy. The way the movie treats being a Midshipman as the gravest and most daunting experience in the world makes me want to cringe my face off.

But, honestly, I could forgive all of that if the film wasn’t so dreadfully bad.
