Brazil weekend (22-25 january). Secret Agent grows after Oscar nominations, Silent Hill sees best opening from the franchise and The Housemaid is still going beast mode
The individual performance of each Lord of the Rings film is pretty impressive, considering the re-release was very limited. Each movie played for just one day, with only two or three screenings per theater, depending on the venue’s size.
But it doesn’t surprise me, I waited too long to buy tickets and ended up with bad seats because all the good ones sold out quickly.
Ticket prices were cheaper on average too, I think this was a promotional run across most of the country. Cinemark, at least, had discounted tickets, so the box office return ended up a bit lower than expected for that level of attendance.
