Is 1.5B dead or not? Or has it already been I havent been keeping track

Will be at 1.4 next weekend.

That’s not good. As a fan, it makes me disheartened. 😭

So it seems more and more likely that Avatar Fire and Ash won’t reach $1.5B on its final run.
which is earning less than $800M than The Way of Water.

Yay its reached 1b INT! Disappointing that it’s such a big drop from 2 though. Would’ve never thought it’d have a hard time reaching 400m dom and 1.5b WW

Pretty much the same 6th OS weekend hold as the 2nd one did.
A2: $93.2M-$58.6M(-37.1%)
A3: $44.5M-$28.1M(-36.8%)

Looks like $1.5B WW total, which is exactly what I said a few months ago.

It’s fucked. Quite sad. Film isn’t perfect but far more ambitious than nearly all other big budget films. Madness. I think we’ll see the true failure success of this when comparing it to big films that come out this year

It’ll make a profit, but albeit a relatively small one. And Cameron’s comments during the press tour really suggests to me he wants to take a break for a while.
The “lower” performance here could give him a reason to step away.

Becomes the 19th highest grossing movie in history by besting The Super Mario Bro. Movie’s 1.361 billion cume.
Also becomes the 14th hollywood release in history to gross over a billion overseas.

When the script for Avatar 2 got overlong, they should’ve brought in a script doctor who could me more objective to cut it down to one movie instead of making it two overly repetitive movies.

Looks likely to finish somewhere between Top Gun: Maverick ($1.49B) and Frozen II ($1.45B) for 16th on the All-Time Chart.

Really good performance at the international at the box office, but globally…
vs Avatar 2’s 2.02B globally at same point!
1.500B-1.575B final.
Two 2025 movies have now grossed over 1B+ in overseas markets alone!
Zootopia 2 – Avatar Fire & Ash
The first time ever two back to back blockbuster releases from a singular studio achieved this!
All films that passed 1B+ internationally this decade:
1. Spider-Man No Way Home (2021): 1.106B (SONY)
2. Avatar The Way of Water (2022): 1.646B (DISNEY)
3. Inside Out 2 (2024): 1.045B (DISNEY)
4. Zootopia 2 (2025): 1.343B+ (DISNEY)
5. Avatar Fire & Ash (2025): 1.000B+ (DISNEY)

The setup was there for an epic fight set near the volcano and ash area. Big miss from Cameron who usually knows how to pull the epic finale set pieces
But he missed on this one ending it with >! individual Jake vs Quaritch v2 with again no consequence or change in status quo to make it worse!<
It could have been much more impacful and relatively fresh and different from end of 2nd part

The Worldwide drop will be similar to TLJ from TFA

I can’t help but ask if this movie needs five parts. Should have Just made it a trilogy and be done with it

The box office of this movie is the victim of two things:
1. A weak Avatar 2. Avatar 3 is indeed a better movie.
2. Both 2 and 3 are way too long. Each should be cut into 2-hour (instead of 3-hour) movies.
Logical_Froyo_7212 on
It will crawl over $1.5 b with re-release.
DatboiX on
At most it might just barely scratch $1.5B by the end. It’ll be a very slow crawl though.

What caused this to happen is relying on CGI instead of an actual good story

again, since DAY 0, I said this movie will be closer to 1 billion than 2 billion.
This was upset in the making and it’s been zero fun tracking this movie.
